Tornado movie Thirteen Minutes is now under production. Studio IP Thirteen Minutes is bringing us the film in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office, which was written, directed, and produced by Lindsay Gossling. Cowriter on Gossling’s directorial debut is Travis Farncombe. Cassian Elwes and Farncombe are executive producers on the project, with Karen Harnisch also producing.
Locations for the production include Oklahoma City, El Reno, and Minco.
“Oklahoma provides an unrivalled backdrop for ‘Thirteen Minutes’, a grounded natural disaster film that foregrounds the emotional truth of tornados. Filming on location in the heart of Tornado Alley, working with folks who have firsthand experience with the fear, loss and profundity of weather infuses ‘Thirteen Minutes’ with an unprecedented realism uncharacteristic of other films within its genre,” said producer Karen Harnisch. “We’re honored to be able to work with Oklahoma’s incredibly talented cast, crew and our friends at the Oklahoma Film & Music Office.”
According to the studio, 75% of the crew, and about 50% of the cast, are local hires from Oklahoma. The film’s stars include Thora Birch (The Walking Dead), Peter Facinelli (Twilight), Anne Heche (Chicago PD), country singer and actor Trace Adkins (The Lincoln Lawyer), Amy Smart (Road Trip), and Paz Vega (Rambo: Last Blood).
“This film is a testament to what can happen when our office travels out of state to spread the word about the incredible talent and locations that we have here,” said Oklahoma Film + Music Office Director Tava Maloy Sofsky in a statement. “It is only fitting that so many local cast and crew have been involved in the telling of a story close to the hearts of many Oklahomans.”
Thirteen Minutes follows four families in a heartland town who are tested when a massive tornado hits, forcing their paths to cross and redefining the meaning of survival.
