Mutated animals will go on a Rampage a week sooner than they had planned.
Warner Bros. has shifted the opening of the Dwayne Johnson video-game adaptation from from April 20 to April 13. This is in response to Disney-Marvel moving THEIR tentpole movie Avengers: Infinity War from May 4 to April 27. Rampage‘s move gives it 2 full weeks again before the Avengers and other MCU characters arrive to do battle.
Johnson is rapidly becoming the go-to-guy for action/disaster movies. His most recent romp, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, has earned nearly $1 billion worldwide in under 2 months. And San Andreas did so well ($473 million worldwide) that it earned a sequel, uncommon for a disaster movie.
In Rampage, Johnson’s primatologist fights to save the world when a failed genetic experiment turns George, his best primate friend, into a giant monster. Other transformed creatures join George in, well, rampaging across the U.S.
Rampage also stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Will Yun Lee, Malin Akerman, and Joe Manganiello. Brad Peyton is the director, and the screenplay was written by Ryan Engle, Carlton Cuse, Ryan J. Condal, and Adam Sztykiel.
